BOISE, Idaho — The Boise Philharmonic celebrated its 60 years of existence at the Boise Depot Thursday night. The sold out event featured performances from musicians Lauren Blackerby and Drew Ziemba.

Music director and conductor Eric Garcia say it's nice to be recognized by the community.

"It's a huge milestone and it's a great opportunity to look back at this incredible tradition and to look forward. What can we do for the community that has given us so much to exist this long and to develop in such a incredible way," said Garcia.

The Boise Depot was chosen because of Boise Philharmonic's commissioned piece, Transcend, a piece about the transcontinental railroad written by composer Zhou Tian.
