BOISE, Ida. — Boise city officials are looking to make the downtown area more pedestrian friendly.

Right now, the city is working with the West Downtown and North End Neighborhood Associations to create a pedestrian commercial zone. The zone would make the area more walkable.

"Part of it is to limit the car-centric things, and then the other aspect is to incentivize residential development on top of office or retail uses below on the first level," according to Wayne Rysavy, communications manager for planning.

The decision to pursue a rezone comes after a nearly year-long conversation about the interests of people living in those neighborhoods.
