BOISE, Idaho — Bogus Basin hosted their first ever Boise Mountain Bike Festival, bringing the biking community together to ride, demo and raise funds for more trails in the Boise area.

Braydon Bringhurst, a professional mountain biker who grew up in Boise, organized the festival with the cooperation of the community and Bogus Basin.

"I love coming up here, personally, and riding all the time, so being able to work with Bogus to put this thing on and have their support and enthusiasm has been incredible," Bringhurst said.

By Saturday afternoon, the parking lot looked like the opening day of ski season -- a testament to the growth of mountain biking and the quality of trails offered by Bogus Basin and the surrounding area.

"I've never lived anywhere else where so many people want to come together and be part of a cohesive community," said Carlos Matutes of the Southwest Idaho Mountain Biking Association or SWIMBA.

Bringhurst rides for Canyon Bicycles, Zipp Wheels and Smith Optics. Those companies donated gear for a raffle which raised $12,000 that will go to the SWIMBA.

"All those funds go into advocacy and trail building to make sure we have the best trails and the best community around," said Matutes.

Bringhurst and some other professional mountain bikers put on some clinics and several local bike shops held a demo day.
