After a long investigation, Boise Police detectives have charged 18-year-old Andrew E. Drake for two armed robberies in March 2017 and a separate burglary that took place in October 2018.

Detectives from the BPD Violent Crimes Unit started investigating two armed robberies in 2017 that were similar and happened in the same area of town on March 6 and March 12. On March 6, Drake walked into a convenience store on the 6400 block of State Street with a knife and demanded money from the store employee. He fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash. On March 12, a man with a similar description walked into a restaurant on the 7000 block of State Street with a hatchet. He was not successful in this robbery and fled the restaurant.

During the investigation, detectives found evidence that indicated Drake was responsible for robbing the first business and attempting to rob the second. Officers also determined that Drake committed the burglary of another business near State and Gary Lane on October 17 of this year. That robbery resulted in the theft of over $6,000.00 worth of merchandise.

Drake has been charged with felony counts of robbery, attempted robbery, burglary, and grand theft. Drake was already in custody in the Ada County Jail on separate charges when officers charged him with the four new felonies.

Boise Police would like to thank the public for sending in numerous tips throughout the investigations.
