A Boise man was jailed late Friday night for a third-offense DUI, after police say he was involved in a hit-and-run crash.
About 10:30 p.m. Friday, Boise Police officers responded to a report of a hit-and-run on the 500 block of Americana Blvd. in Boise.
Witnesses said the driver was headed southbound on Americana when he hit a building and a flower bed -- before getting out of his vehicle and walking away.
“The suspect was still in the area and witnesses pointed him out to officers,” according to a BPD news release.
“The suspect, identified as Joseph Brollier, 51, appeared to be under the influence of alcohol and failed a field sobriety test. The suspect refused a breath test and a blood test was taken at the Ada County Jail for further evidence testing,” the release said.
A police K-9 also alerted on the vehicle, indicating the likely presence of illegal drugs.
A subsequent search revealed drug paraphernalia under the driver’s seat, investigators said.
Brollier has two prior DUI convictions -- one from 2008 and one from 2010 -- making the current charge a felony.
Brollier was booked into the Ada County Jail on charges of driving under the influence, two misdemeanor counts of failing to stop or give information in a property damage collision, and one misdemeanor of possessing drug paraphernalia.
