BOISE — A man was arrested for felony aggravated battery and aggravated assault after police say he attacked and fired a gun at his female roommate.

On Sunday morning at around 2:30 a.m. Boise Police officers responded to a report of an assault which occurred on the 500 block of S. Victoria Drive. According to Boise Police, a man attacked his female roommate, including pointing a gun at her and eventually firing the weapon four times.

The woman was able to struggle with the man over the gun and was not struck. The woman fought off the suspect and ran out of the house. She ran to a nearby business and had employees contact police, said officials.

Patrol officers quickly responded to the residence and located the suspect on the front porch with two pistols in his hands. He followed officer’s commands and set the weapons down, and was taken into custody without incident.

The suspect, identified as John Koenig, 55 of Boise was transported to the Ada County Jail where he was booked for felony aggravated battery and aggravated assault. The victim was checked by paramedics on scene and cleared.
