An elderly woman is safe tonight after being rescued from rushing water in the Boise River. It happened just after 2:30 p.m. just north of the Main Street Bridge in Downtown Boise.
Boise Fire officials say the woman was clinging on to a branch in the river for close to twenty minutes.
They used a rescue boat to bring her to safety.
The woman did not suffer any injuries but was taken to a local hospital for observation.
Officials on scene say alcohol may have been a factor.
With the river moving fast and cold authorities are still urging people to stay out of the water.
