Warmer temperatures may have you thinking about cooling off in the water, but if you're thinking about the Boise River, it's not quite ready yet.

The Boise Fire Department dive team has been out on the river between Barber Park and Ann Morrison Park this week to mitigate hazards such as trees and debris.

Boise Fire says even when the river does open for float season, there is always a risk involved when floating.

"But no matter how much we mitigate this, this is a natural river, it has a lot of hazards in there that the public needs to be very conscious of," said Paul Roberts, Boise Fire Department.

Ada County Parks and Waterways ultimately makes the decision of when to open the river for the commercial float season.

No date has been announced yet.
