The Boise Fire Department practiced using their thermal imaging technology during a fire training session at an abandoned Arby’s restaurant they filled with smoke.
The fire department said that it had been some time since they practiced with the technology in a controlled environment and decided to conduct the refresher.
"We can see through smoke whereas without them we can't. That's as you can imagine critical for finding victims and finding our way around a building that’s filled with black smoke and you can't see six inches in front of your face," Cpt. Mike Walker from the Boise Fire Department said.
