A fifth-grader in the Boise School District relied on creativity, markers and paint, to win the district’s annual Christmas Card Contest.
Mihaya’s depiction of holiday ornaments was selected from among 2,000 entries submitted by students in grades K-6.
“I was really, very nervous about it when I went to the board meeting,” Mihaya said. “…and I was also surprised and happy at the same time.”
Mihaya was recognized by the school board on Monday, Dec. 11.
As the grand prize winner, she received a certificate, 50 cards featuring her artwork, and a $25 gift card to Quality Art.
