Boise bound United flight makes emergency landing

A United Airlines flight from Houston to Boise Idaho made an emergency landing at another Texas airport after smoke was reported in the aircraft.

According to the Associated Press, Shortly after takeoff Thursday evening from Bush Intercontinental Airport, the plane was diverted to College Station about 100 miles northwest of Houston.

In a statement, United Airlines says the plane, which experienced a mechanical issue, landed safely. No injuries were reported.

College Station Fire Department Battalion Chief Greg Rodgers says smoke was reported on the plane. But first responders were unable to determine the source of the smoke.

The airline says a new plane was being sent to College Station to continue the flight to Boise.
