Bogus Basin got their first measurable snowfall of the season today, topping two inches at the top of the mountain, and just over one inch at the base.

"This is the first measurable snowfall of the season so this is always a time everybody gets excited, including us," says Bogus Basin Mountain Recreation General Manager, Brad Wilson.

It began snowing early this morning at elevations as low as 7,000 feet, but quickly made its way farther down. Snowfall ended up reaching almost exactly 6,000 feet, just a little bit lower than the Bogus Basin Recreation Area.

While it may be time to put on your gloves and winter coat up on the mountain, it isn't quite time to pull out the skis.

"Anytime in November is time to get excited," Wilson.

And November is just a short 23-days away. So if you've been awaiting the winter sports season, you won't be waiting much longer.

"We're traditionally open sometime in the first or second week of December, we've been open at Thanksgiving many times though, so we're ready at any given time," says Wilson.
