Bogus Basin getting geared up for summertime activities

Posted

With glistening white snow still covering the peaks surrounding Boise it’s hard to believe we are just over a month away from the official kickoff of summertime festivities at Bogus Basin.

“Our opening date for this summer will start Memorial day weekend,” said Bogus Basin General Manager Brad Wilson.

They said that because of the way the weather has been in the past few weeks, the snow may not be completely gone by then.

“But we will have a lot of activities including music on that weekend just to get people up into the mountains,” said Wilson.

But once they get into full swing there are going to be more things to do than ever on the mountain. This will be the first summer that the mountain coaster will be open, plus there is always hiking and biking, summer tubing, the rock climbing wall, the bungee trampoline, and the warm weather debut of the new Double R Ranch Smokehouse Barbecue and patio.

“It has great barbecued food and then we will have wraps and things like that too and then beverages right there on the deck,” explained Wilson.

On those hot summer days the mountain typically stays around 20 degrees cooler than the valley, so it can provide a quick getaway not far from town.

It’s going to be a great setting,” said Wilson “We have that one acre of new lawn we put in last summer with a big deck, fire pits so when the sun goes down you can stay warm, and then the barbecue so it’s going to be a blast. We are looking forward to it.”

Summertime operations officially kick off on May 26th. Bogus will be open on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday of memorial day weekend from 11 to 7. From there they will be open Friday, Saturday and Sunday through June 22nd, and then they will switch to 7 day a week operations.
