Gem County Coroner John Buck tells 6 On Your Side the body pulled from the Payette River near the Montour Bridge Thursday morning has been identified as 45-year-old Jerry Coburn of Kuna. Coburn went missing in early May after the truck he was driving crashed into the Payette River north of Gardena. First responders were unable to the recover the truck or any remains the day of the crash due to high waters. Jerry's family and friends conducted their own search using power boats and aircraft.
The Gem County Coroner says they were able to identify the body using fingerprints and dental records. Based off of witness accounts of the crash, the coroner says the cause of death is drowning and not a medical issue. Jerry's family says Friday is Jerry's birthday and they are relieved to have him home.
