BOISE, Idaho — Competitive barbecue teams from across the west gathered in Boise on Saturday for the Bands, Brews & BBQ Festival to compete for the Idaho state championship.
Attendees were able to check out the professional barbecue competition for free but sampling the food cost $10.
Michael Fernandez, who attended the BBQ fest says, "The music, the food, good people. The beer, The beer obviously. For us, it's the first time here and we're just really enjoying it."
The event is a qualifier for the Kansas City Barbeque Society national championship.
The event, formerly known as the Rock'n Brews & BBQ festival, is in it's fourth year and it's third year at the Boise Spectrum. The winner of the Kansas City Barbeque Society-sanctioned event will receive a berth in the 2020 Jack Daniel's World Championship Invitational Barbecue in Tennessee.
