At least 21 families are drying out after a culvert on the Elijah drain at Midway road and Jerry Lee lane failed early Sunday morning.
The Canyon County Sheriffs' office says they first responded at around 2:40 am. Authorities believe part of Midway road collapsed and fell into the drain blocking the water flow. Water then backed up and flooded nearby homes on Jerry Lee lane and Bonnie Lane with more than three feet of water.
Canyon Highway District #4 and the Pioneer Irrigation district are working to unblock the culvert and are using pumps to drain the water from the neighborhoods.
