BOISE, Idaho — The annual Turkey Bucks campaign organized by Albertsons is happening until November 26. The campaign started back in October.

As part of the campaign, shoppers have an opportunity to add $1, $5 or $10 donations to their purchase totals to help Idaho families get holiday meals. Albertsons has partnered with the Idaho Foodbank since 2005 with this campaign to provide holiday meals to struggling Idahoans.

Last year, 13 Albertsons locations provided 4,199 Thanksgiving meals and this year the program is on track to provide over 4,500 holiday meals to the Idaho Foodbank thanks to Albertsons customers and 15 participating stores in Boise, Meridian and Pocatello.

The Idaho Foodbank says each meal feeds five to six Idahoans and includes a frozen turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, gravy and rolls.

It is estimated that one in nine people and one in eight children were food insecure in Idaho before the COVID-19 pandemic. Recent projections consider the impact change that ration to one in seven Idahoans and one in five children, according to the Idaho Foodbank.

With just $1, the Idaho Foodbank can provide enough food for up to five meals.
