Ada County Hunger Walk raises money to end food insecurity

Posted

Ada County Hunger Walk reportedly attracted about 200 walkers to Julia Davis Park Sunday to help fight hunger in the Treasure Valley and beyond.

The 3.4 mile loop began on the Greenbelt near Julia Davis Park, continued downtown past the Capitol, and circled back to Julia Davis Park.

"People in the world have to walk to get water-- about three miles just to access water. And so we walk because they walk," said Judy Halverson, organizer of Ada County Crop Hunger Walk.

The event's goal is to raise thirty thousand dollars for the cause, Halverson said. And a quarter of those funds will go to the Idaho Food Bank.

Each year the event collects donations to walkers or teams.
