The Ada County Highway District has scheduled a ribbon cutting ceremony Thursday to mark the completion of the Bogus Basin Road Safety Maintenance and Trailhead Project.
The project represents the last phase of a series of roadway improvement projects from Harrison Boulevard all the way to Milepost 16. “Improvements include a new overlay; the installation of new and replacement barriers and guardrail; the installation of new and replacement concrete curb; signage improvements; and improved and widened turnout locations,” said ACHD spokesperson Nicole DuBois.
In partnership with the Boise National Forest, ACHD also constructed a paved trailhead access including a comfort station and additional parking.
The project was funded through the Western Federal Lands Division of the Federal Highway Administration with the Federal Lands Access Program. “These funds are intended for the improvement of public access to federal lands,” DuBois said.
The finished roadway and trailhead access will serve skiers, hikers, bicyclists, and other recreationalists who wish to access the Boise National Forest.
