A new sidewalk link on Garrett Street will make walking near the busy Chinden Boulevard intersection safer for those getting around west Boise and Garden City, according to the Ada County Highway District.

ACHD accelerated the $98,000 project to keep pedestrians safe as they went to and from the commercial areas at Chinden/Garrett and Maple Grove Road, said Sara Baker, the ACHD commissioner who represents the area.

“This isn’t a big project in terms of length, but it gives a safe place for students to wait for the bus and for people to walk separated from the traffic,” Baker said.

The new sidewalk runs on the west side of Garrett from Chinden to Thurman Street.
