With the rain and snow recently in the Treasure Valley, it’s a good reminder that the winter driving season is here. As it is every year, it comes down to common sense on the roads.
Keep plenty of distance between you and the cars ahead of you and always use gentle pressure on the gas pedal to avoid sliding.
You also want to avoid using cruise control when driving on slippery surfaces. Bridges, overpasses and intersections are areas where ice is most likely to form first.
AAA says to focus your attention as far ahead as possible in case you have to maneuver around any stuck vehicles.
Also, make sure your tires are always properly inflated and in good condition and always have your brakes checked regularly.
