JEROME, Ida. — Idaho State Police investigated a three vehicle fatal crash on US-93 at milepost 53.5, east of Jerome Saturday morning.

According to police, Amber Philips, 36, was driving a 2003 Ford pickup and turning left on northbound US-93 when her vehicle was struck by a 1998 Mercury Mountaineer.

Police say debris from both vehicles struck a 2005 Ford Excursion stopped at the light going northbound on US-93, driven by Douglas Burks, 70, of Twin Falls.

Phillips, her passenger, Mykel Thaete, 31, and a juvenile passenger were transported by ground ambulance.

Burks was not transported.

The driver of the Mercury succumbed to injuries on scene. Their name is being held until next of kin is notified.

It is not known by police at this time if occupants were wearing seatbelts.

Police say both north and south lanes of US-93 were blocked for 5 and a half hours while the scene was cleared.
