The "Out of the Darkness" walk in Meridian got off to a busy start this morning, and no amount of wind was going to stop these Idahoans from raising funds and awareness about mental illness and suicide.
The goal was to raise $72,000 for the American Foundation of Suicide Prevention.
After a teary opening ceremony, walkers were asked to raise beads in a moment of silence for loved ones lost to suicide.
All funds raised will go to new research, educational programs, and to help shape public policy surrounding mental illness and suicide prevention.
