Amazon Prime Day has become a highlight for bargain hunters every July, a sort of mid-summer Black Friday from the comfort of your home.
It typically takes place around July 15, but Amazon doesn't announce it until July, for obvious reasons. If they release the date too soon, shoppers will shut their wallets and not buy things until Prime Day starts.
But for 2018, it appears Amazon accidentally released the date a week or two early. Oops!
The tech website TechRadar.com says a banner appeared for a very short time, advertising Prime Day 2018 starting Monday, July 16, and continuing through Tuesday, July 17.
It will run a full 36 hours this year (so it's almost two days), according to the banner ad.
But within an hour or two, the banner ad disappeared, TechRadar says. And Amazon would not confirm whether it was a brilliantly placed teaser, an error or something else. Knowing Amazon, it may have been planned.
So for now all we can do is wait, which means Amazon will probably see a slight sales slowdown the next two weeks, as shoppers await Prime Day bargains.
