Magic Valley Arts Council teams up with CSI to bring art to the community

TWIN FALLS, Idaho — The Magic Valley Arts Council is teaming up with local artists--including some at the College of Southern Idaho--to bring "The Art of the Gift: Unwrap Slowly" event to the Magic Valley.

The event runs from November 19th through January 8th. The event features 9 Local Authors, 21 artists & the participants from College of Southern Idaho’s Magic Mud: Jessie Adams, Angela Batchelor, Phyllis Beard, Steven Buck, Myriam Carrasco, Christina Dowdy, Virginia Hutchins, Cindy Jones, Jessica McGoewn, Fred Pence, Bob Sojka and Bill & Sherly West.

Organizers say to comply with COVID recommendations the annual event has been stretched from one day into several weeks. Hours have been extended to Tuesdays through Thursdays from 10 am to 5 pm, Fridays from 10 am to 7 pm and, beginning November 21, open Saturdays from 11 am to 3 pm through December 19, or by appointment.

The Magic Valley Arts Council and Full Moon Gallery will be closed November 26 & 27 for Thanksgiving but will reopen on Saturday, November 28 for Small Business Saturday.

Shoppers will find unique hand-made gifts, ceramics, furniture, jewelry, paintings, photography, and woodwork.

Each Saturday from 11 am – 3 pm visitors will have an opportunity to meet an author and several artists. Here's the schedule for this year:

November 21: author/artist Leon Smith, artists Jerry Dodds and Connie Pepper
November 28: author Stephen Hartgen, artists Mayumi Keifer and Jan Mittleider
December 5: author Jane Bennett Munro; artist Judy Van Dellen
December 12: author Bev Stone; artists Kim Critchfield and Corey King
December 19: author Julie Weston; artists Pegan Cook and Don Pica
