Remember the old Kool-Aid commercials with Kool-Aid Man, where he’d heroically bust through the walls of any building at the mere mention of thirsty children?
Well, brace yourselves, because now he’s exploding into the drugstore candy aisle: The drink mix’s latest incarnation is Kool-Aid Dippers, a flavored treat that makes you work (a little) for your sugar rush.
As a former kid — and one who was frequently disappointed that Kool-Aid mix wasn’t sweet on its own — this is a thrilling development.
The new confection comes in cherry and blue raspberry flavors, and closely resembles another old-school treat, Lik-M-Aid Fun Dip. The package includes its own, edible dipping stick that picks up the candy powder.
Best of all, sweets fans don’t have to choose between flavors: Each packet contains both cherry and blue razz, so you can mix and match to your heart’s content.
The Dippers join a small family of Kool-Aid-branded candies already available, from gummies to Pop-Rocks-like “popping candy.” It’s not even the first Kool-Aid dipping candy — Lollipop Dippers are out there, with lollipops as dipping sticks.
Quarantine sweet tooth: Activated.
Kool-Aid flavors and candy are a natural pair. But did you know about the treasure trove of Kool-Aid recipes floating around on the internet?
But back to the Dippers: There’s no specific word on when and where the new Dippers will appear. But Hilco, the company that manufactures the treat, sells its wares in major chains like Walgreens, CVS and Family Dollar.
