BOISE — Shortly after 6:30 p.m. Friday, Boise Police officers were called to a business on the 3500 block of South Federal Way on a report of suspicious activity, according to BPD spokeswoman Haley Williams.

“The business reported that two males had attempted to use fraudulent financial transactions cards to purchase gift cards,” she said.

Several hours earlier, officers had been made aware of similar activity at other local businesses involving suspects matching the same description.

“When officers arrived, they found the suspects’ vehicle at a nearby business in the same shopping center on Federal Way,” Williams stated.

In contacting the suspects -- later identified as Mohamed Kariye, 30, and Mohamed Jarato, 31, both from Washington state -- officers learned the two were in possession of multiple financial transactions cards that did not belong to them, and that “the cards had been used to make multiple purchases in the Boise area,” Williams said.

The two were booked into the Ada County Jail. Each face felony charges of grand theft, burglary, and the fraudulent use of a financial transaction card.
