TREASURE VALLEY — "There's two houses available in Ada County right now available under 200,000," said Matt Bauscher, Amherst Madison Real Estate.

Bauscher says the demand for homes in the Treasure Valley far outweighs the supply.

"It's like going to the grocery store and there's four gallons of milk and there's 15 people that want the milk."

It has a lot of first time home buyers frustrated.

"Three or four years ago, you used to find a house that was affordable under 200,000."

Bauscher says potential buyers are getting pretty creative to get a home at their pricepoint.

"We've gone door knocking. We've sent out letters. We just sent two hundred letters for a local family, two homeowners, pictures of their family, their lender approval letter so we know that they're going to actually qualify. We're definitely doing some outside the box thinking to try to get them inside a house."

Idaho housing has assistance programs that first time home buyers can apply for.
