NAMPA, ID — The pressure of planning holiday meals, more traffic and tight budgets can make things tense. First responders say they see more calls related to holiday stress this time of year.

"You're stressed out about getting your house clean and making sure it's ready for the family to show up," said Keith Elkins, Nampa Fire Department captain.

Some more of their recent responses have related to family members who are not on the same page. Other factors like alcohol or other substances that could affect someone's logical decision making can be a recipe for disaster.

"Who knows how family arguments start or what causes it, whether it's politics or old rivalries within the family and their emotions. We see the effect of that in some of our responses and our incidents," said Elkins.
