CALDWELL, IDAHO — Police say a young Nampa man is dead after he collided with the back of a semi on I-84 west of Caldwell Monday night.

Caldwell police say the semi driver was headed west, when he took the exit 26 off-ramp toward Notus and Parma and slowed for the upcoming stop.

Police say 22-year-old Luis Cepeda of Nampa was also driving westbound on I-84, in a 2007 Ford Explorer, when he failed to yield for slowing traffic and slammed into the back of the semi's trailer.

Police say Cepeda was not wearing a seatbelt and died at the scene.

The truck driver was wearing a seat belt.

The crash closed the westbound I-84 26 off-ramp for about three hours.
