EAGLE — The Treasure Valley community celebrated the life of 9-year-old Claire Elliott on Saturday. Claire had a rare brain tumor and spent the last year fighting for her life.

The celebration of life honored the things that she loved to do, including making slime. Hundreds of butterflies were released as a symbol of rebirth.

"She didn't want us to be sad. She didn't want us to be crying," said Annie Elliott, Claire's mom.

"She's you know, in a place in heaven where's there are no brain tumors and that she's smiling down on us and cheering us on, and I truly believe that," said Elliott.

Elliott says Claire would have loved the celebration.

"I'm trying to channel her spirit and what she wanted for us as her family and what she wanted as her mom," Elliott said. "She was always my biggest advocate and best friend, and so I'm hoping this does her proud, and it just means so much to me."
