Boise State began the season with solid effort from Junior guard Marta Hermida who came within a rebound and an assist of just the second triple-double in Boise State history, finishing with 12 points, nine rebounds and a career-high nine assists in the Broncos' season-opening, 83-51 victory over Northwest Christian.

“The first time I played point guard was a little different for me, but I figured if it’s what I needed to do to help the team, that I would work on it. I was glad to take on responsibility," Hermida said after the game.

Senior Shay Shaw lead all players on the night with 16 points on 7-of-11 shooting to go with six rebounds, four assists and three steals, with Riley Lupfer scored 15 points and handing out three assists. Overall, five Broncos scored in double figures, with Ellie Woerner (12 points) and Marijke Vandrschaaf (11) joining Shaw, Lupfer and Hermida.

Boise State returns to action next weekend, traveling to Honolulu for the Bank of Hawaii Rainbow Wahine Classic. There, the Broncos will face San Diego Friday (Nov. 17) at 7:30 p.m. MT before closing the trip Sunday (Nov. 19) against Northern Arizona at 5:30 p.m. MT.
