The sport of river surfing continues to grow in popularity and Boise is one of the best places do it. Grind TV has named it one of the best river surfing spots in the world.
Whitewater park placed 5th in the article. Right between the Snake River in Jackson Hole Wyoming and a park in Bend Oregon. The list also included the Zambezi river in Africa. Number one went to a river in Germany. The article says it's man-made features and it's tight-knit community make it a standout from all the rest. Local surfers say they are not surprised by the ranking. They say it's location helps others get into the sport.
"We've always had a really strong river community here in Boise and Idaho but this is right in town," said Victor Myers owner of Corridor Paddle and Surf shop. "It's really accessible and easy to get to. It's just a good way to get more people involved"
With the Whitewater Park Expanding, surfers say it's only going to get better.
