A Nampa teen with cystic fibrosis is a little bit closer to a new lease on life tonight thanks to the help of family, friends and even his classmates.

Six On Your Side first introduced you to Gauge Edwards last October. Soon after doctors told Gauge and his parents he would need a new set of lungs as soon as possible.
His classmates at Ridgeview High showed their support with a donation which they hope will help the family breathe easy.

All together the school raised around $1000 for Gauge and his family to help cover some of the medical expenses.

Doctors at Texas children's hospital will perform the surgery. In early May Gauge and his parents will have to relocate to Houston temporarily.

Gauge's medical care could cost the family hundreds of thousands of dollars.
