A Nampa man has been booked into the Ada County Jail on a number of felony burglary charges, after Meridian Police say he managed to steal three big-screen televisions from an area retailer.

According to Meridian Police Deputy Chief Tracy Basterrechea, Marcus Soliz, 24, of Nampa, reportedly stole a 43-inch television on May 15th from the Walmart at Fairview Avenue and Eagle Road. He then stole a second 43-inch television on May 22nd and a third flat-screen television on May 23rd, all from the same store, Basterrechea said.

“He’d (allegedly) push the televisions in a shopping cart to an emergency exit, then leave the store with them, loading the TVs into a waiting vehicle,” he explained.

Surveillance cameras gave investigators a good view of the vehicle used.

Descriptions of both the vehicle and suspect were sent to patrol units.

Officers later spotted the vehicle in the 2500 block of East Fairview Avenue and pulled the driver over.

Soliz was arrested without incident.

Officers say they found a small amount of heroin in the vehicle.

Both Soliz and the driver, identified as Amber Gallegos, 22, of Meridian, were charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Soliz also faces six counts of felony burglary, among other charges.

The stolen televisions have not yet been recovered, Basterrechea said.
