Homedale Police Department Officer Chris Steed and Owyhee County Sheriff's Deputy Terry McGrew responded to a house on Montana Avenue in Homedale, Idaho on Saturday, December 26th to sort out a custody exchange.

While officers conversed with Heredia about searching his persons, Heredia became agitated and told Steed and Terry that he was "strapped."

Donahue said officers gave several verbal commands to Heredia to drop the weapon, but he reportedly did not comply. According to Sheriff Donahue, Heredia fired one shot at officers and tried to fire his weapon again but the cartridge became stuck and jammed.

Both officers fired their guns and hit Heredia multiple times.

Heredia was taken to the hospital and died several days later from his injuries.

Officials did release a video of the events that occurred that night using body cameras equipped on officers.
