A Nampa police officer was treated and released from the hospital this afternoon after being injured while trying to arrest a suspect.

Around 1:20 p.m. on Sunday, officers responded to a disturbance at a residence in the 300 block of West Crestwood drive. Officer located the suspect, Jeremiah Heady, 20 of Nampa, and attempted to detain him.

Police say Heady resisted and started to fight the officer, at one point, placing his arm around the officer’s throat.

The officer was able to get free and the struggle continued, however, Heady was again able to get behind and somewhat on top of the officer, placing his arm around her neck again.

Once other officers arrived, Heady quit resisting and was taken into custody.

Heady was charged with battery on a police officer, a felony, resisting and obstructing an officer and possession of drug paraphernalia with intent to use. He was booked into the Canyon County jail.

The Nampa officer was transported to a local hospital where she was treated and released. The extent of her injuries is unknown.
