Memorial Day events and closures

The Boise Art Museum is offering free admission to military personnel and their families.

The museum is one of more than 2,000 museums across the country taking part in the Blue Star museums program, giving veterans free admission from Memorial Day through Labor Day.

The public is also invited to attend the annual celebration at the Idaho State Veterans Cemetery which begins at 10 am.

The program features the Idaho National Guard band, Bagpipers, and rifle and cannon salutes.

Over at the Morris Hill cemetery, Civil war volunteers will perform a flag raising, Eulogy and gun salute silent camp at noon. The ceremonies are repeated at 1:15 pm. at the Fort Boise Military Reserve cemetery.

Meanwhile, many businesses will be closed tomorrow.

All city, county, state and federal offices will be closed Monday along with the post office, and all state liquor stores. All Treasure Valley libraries will not be open.

Most banks are closed, and Valley Ride city buses will not be operating.

Trash collection will not be in service and will be delayed by one day the rest of the week.
