Lightning sparks fires across Elmore, Owyhee Counties

Lightning sparked fires across Elmore and Owyhee Counties Monday night.

BLM officials said the weather and gusty winds made the fight against the wildfires challenging.  

Here are the latest numbers from the BLM on the size of those fires:

 

Yeti Fire 

Location: Approximately 11 miles northwest of Grandview, ID 

Size: Approximately 3,800 acres 

Cause: Lightning 

Bigfoot Fire 

Approximately 12 miles northwest of Grandview, ID 

Approximately 200 acres 

Lightning 

Consumed by the Yeti Fire 

Lock Fire 

Approximately 6 miles northwest of Mountain Home, ID 

Approximately 1500 acres 

Lightning 

Breeze Fire

Approximately 14 miles northwest of Mountain Home, ID 

1,833 acres

Rattle Fire 

Approximately 11 miles south of Mountain Home, ID
