A Kuna man has suffered severe injuries after being hit by a vehicle at approximately 1:57 in the morning on Ustick Road between Curtis and West 43rd Street.

Brian Slagel, 36, of Kuna is in a local hospital listed as being in critical condition.

Police do not know if he was under the influence of drugs or alcohol when he was hit.

The driver of the vehicle, Tristan Swim, 19, of Caldwell, Idaho was transported by Ada County Paramedics for evaluation following the crash.

"This portion of Ustick is very dark at night and it would have been difficult to see Slagel who was in the roadway at the time of the accident,” Chief Rick Allen stated.  “There are a lot of unanswered questions as to why Slagel was in that area of Ustick, and in the middle of the roadway at that time of night."

The Garden City Police Department would like to speak with anyone who had contact with Slagel in the past 24 hours leading up to the accident. Anyone with information can contact the Garden City Police Department Criminal Investigations Unit at 472-2950.

At this time, no charges or citations have been filed. The Garden City Police Department and the Ada County Sheriff's Office CRASH Reconstruction Team continue their investigation.
