Gov. C.L. "Butch" Otter has amended his budget recommendations to include funding for a Director of Information Security position.

The Governor's Office presented the adjusted funding recommendation to the Joint Finance-Appropriations Committee on Tuesday.

Otter is requesting $64, 900 for fiscal year 2017 to fund the Director of Information Security position and an annualized cost of  $115,100 starting in fiscal year 2018.

The Director of Information Security will lead efforts to detect, identify and thwart hacks on the State of Idaho’s computer networks.

The search to fill the office will begin after the Legislature funds the position. The person hired for the job will report directly to the Governor.
