The Payette County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help in finding a Fruitland man who has been missing more than six weeks.

Payette County Sheriff’s Office Lt. Andy Creech said Scott Gross, 41, was last seen about 10:00 a.m. on July 24th at his father’s Fruitland home.

Gross was wearing tan shorts, a white T-shirt, a tan pullover hoodie, white Nike shoes and was reported to be carrying a camouflaged backpack. “Gross left the residence on an ATV, which was later recovered near New Plymouth. Gross was not located in the area of the ATV,” Creech stated.

Gross is 6-feet 1-inch tall, with dark brown hair and brown eyes. He weighs about 250 pounds.

“They family was hoping he would eventually return. But he didn’t. And now, as more time passes, the family is becoming more and more concerned about his welfare,” said Creech.

Family members said it appears Gross did not take a weapon with him, nor was any note left behind.

They told investigators they searched the area where the ATV was located, but found no evidence as to where he went.

“We’re told it’s out of character for him to be gone this long,” Creech stated.
