Organizers say a Saturday concert in Nampa starring legendary singer Marie Osmond, popular “American Idol” runner-up David Archuleta, Christian recording artist Alex Boyé and the Nashville Tribute Band collected over 20,000 pounds of food for Treasure Valley food banks.

Concert-goers were asked to bring food donations to the free, non-denominational musical celebration entitled “Redeemer.” It was hosted by the Christian Outreach Multimedia Events organization.

People of multiple Christian faiths across the Treasure Valley participated in organizing, publicizing and promoting the concert and food drive.

“It was heartwarming to see so many faiths coming together unified in their love for Jesus Christ,” said Care House volunteer Leiann Snyder. “I have learned much from this experience, and have a passion for seeing people from all walks of life coming together for the common good.”

The program also featured an interfaith choir comprised of young people who represent many Treasure Valley faith groups. The 60-member choir shared the stage with the performers.

After the show, thousands of concert-goers stood in lines for a chance to greet and snap a photo with the stars.
