Boise Parks and Recreation Department officials are holding an open house Thursday night to gather public opinion on the future of the Spaulding Ranch, a historic, 20-acre site at 3805 North Cole Road in west Boise.

The open house is scheduled to run from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Capital High School Cafeteria, 8055 W Goddard Road.

The City of Boise acquired the open-space ranch earlier this year in a land swap with the development company who owned the parcel. Officials traded it for land the City owned near Main Street and Whitewater Blvd., near the site of the proposed College of Western Idaho campus.

Spaulding ranch is named for the family who homesteaded the property back in the late 1800s.

“The open house will be an opportunity for neighbors and interested parties to identify park needs of the neighborhood and ideas for the property in the future,” said Boise Parks and Recreation spokesperson Sarah Collings.
