More than 500 members of the Idaho National Guard were deployed last month as a part of Operation Inherent Resolve, the U.S. led effort to eliminate ISIS and other terrorist groups in the Middle East.

The City of Boise said they understand how hard it can be on the families of the airmen, so it is renewing a program to help support those families here at home.

Wednesday, the city announced it was renewing 'Our Troops, Our Families,' a program designed to take away some of the stress of missing their loved ones.

The program provides military families with a variety of recreational activities at city venues like swimming pools, Zoo Boise, fire stations and community centers, all free of charge.

There are even designated nights out for parents, allowing them to drop off kids at one of the community centers so they can have the night free to do whatever they want.

The city said they understand how challenging it is for a loved one to be gone for such a long time, but they hope this gesture can help ease the burden.
