Boise Police officers are looking for a person of interest after he ran from police and forcefully stole a truck from a citizen while holding a knife.

The suspect has been identified as Jeremiah James Newell.

The truck that was stolen is a 2001 silver Chevrolet Silverado extended cab with license plate 1A9587G.

Anyone who knows where Newell is located is asked to notify police but should not approach him as he is believed to be armed and dangerous.

The incident started after police attempted to stop Newell near Chinden and Coffey Street just after 4:00 p.m., on June 22nd, 2016.

When officers tried to stop Newell, he fled. Officers attempted to use a pit maneuver to stop him, however, Newell was able to flee the scene after ramming two vehicles--including an officer's cruiser.

Police are still actively searching for the man and the investigation into the incident is ongoing.
