A Boise man is in the Ada County Jail, facing eight felony counts of sexual exploitation of a child.

According to a news release, Boise Police officers and members of the U.S. Marshal’s Fugitive Task Force served an arrest warrant on the suspect -– Daniel R. Oneil, 36 -- at an undisclosed business near the area of Rossi Street and Bobwhite Court Monday afternoon.

The warrant stemmed from a two-month investigation which began in December of last year when BPD officers received a tip that the suspect had electronic images of child pornography on his computer, the release said.

Officers served a search warrant in February at Oneil’s residence and say they found thousands of sexually exploitative images. Many were of children under the age of eight, the release stated.

Investigators say they have no evidence the images were of local children.
