Beer enthusiasts gathered to support local breweries today at Boise Brewing's "Hoptober Freshtival."

The Downtown Boise event reportedly draws over 2,000 thirsty patrons each year and is the largest fresh hop beer festival in Idaho.

“I think it’s just important for our economy and our infrastructure to have breweries that are here in Boise, locally based, and just really supporting that," said Kari Moore of Boise Beer Buddies.

The festival features craft beer samples and works to showcase local hop farmers.

This is a particularly exciting year for local beer lovers, as Idaho recently surpassed Oregon's hops production, putting us in second place behind Washington.
