Boise State University has officially launched an e-sports program ,celebrating with a kick off party.
E-sports is where teams compete in competitive video gaming as an officially sanctioned varsity activity for undergrad and graduate students.
More than 50 colleges in the United States have teams. The students will compete in tournaments of 5 different games against other schools and travel and have practice just like any other team.
"We do have coaching whicb right now I can't reveal. It's kind of our secret cause of what it is that we are producing in order to have that competitive advantage over other schools," said Brett Shelton, BSU's e-sports co-director.
The program is backed by the College of Education as well as the College of Innovation and Design.
