Our favorite season of all, football season, is officially back in Caldwell! The Yotes opened up fall camp bright and early this morning at Simplot Stadium. Head Coach Mike Moroski is entering his third season with the team, and the Coyotes are looking to turn a few heads in the Frontier Conference.

The Yotes are coming off back to back 4-7 seasons. This year, optimism running through fall camp is at an all time high. Moroski says that he feels that he has the best of both worlds.

“We are further along than we have ever been, it’s the first time we have been able to do that. We’ve got older guys, we’ve got some all league players returning, a couple of preseason All-Americans even. Just some experience across the board which really makes the difference.” said head coach Mike Moroski.

Numbers are certainly not a problem this year. The Yotes have a total of 115 players on the roster. 34 of those players are coming from right here in the Treasure Valley, in addition to 18 other players representing the Gem State.

“Lots of new faces. There were some that weren’t able to return for a variety of reasons. That’s just part of the gig at this level. Love the guys we have,” said Moroski.

This year it won’t be a cake walk for the team. Eight games on their schedule will be played against teams that are either ranked or receiving votes in the NAIA Preseason Top -25 poll. The College of Idaho was picked to finish fifth in the Frontier Conference Preseason Poll. Despite that, they know that there’s a lot of weight on their shoulders.

“I think there is a reason to believe the conference is getting tougher, and you never know about the lower half of the conference how good those guys are going to be. A couple of new coaches are there. I think it’s just one of the most exciting conferences in the country, and every game is going to demand we as coaches be great, and we get a lot out of our guys.” said Moroski.

The Yotes will practice up until August 19th. The will have their purple and gold scrimmage on August 21st at 6pm to close out the opening week of practice. If you would like to check out the team, all practices will be open to the public.
